Overview
We are seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Goodwin Living Home Health team, providing high-quality, personalized care to the older adult community in the Northern Virginia area. This is not contract work; you’ll be part of a collaborative full-time team deeply integrated into the lives of our patients.
About the PositionThis is a full-time Monday–Friday position where patients are treated in their homes or retirement communities. We service the following areas:
Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William. Once the evaluating Physical Therapist establishes the Plan of Care, the PTA provides treatments to improve the patient’s functional abilities, safety level, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.

Responsibilities- Provides Physical Therapy treatments to overcome specific losses of function due to disease and injury, under a Physical Therapist’s Plan of Care, and as dictated by the Commonwealth of Virginia Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Effectively communicates with the Physical Therapist to clarify the Plan of Care, relay resident’s progress with treatment, report adverse effects, report medical decline or inability to follow through with treatments, and offer suggestions to alter and progress the Plan of Care based on knowledge and experience with the resident.
- Documents treatments/services according to Home Health Department protocols and Medicare guidelines.
- Coordinates patient’s treatment with nursing staff, occupational and speech therapists.
- Current Virginia Physical Therapy Assistant license
- CPR certified (adult only)
- Ability to safely move equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs with assistance
- Compassion and empathy, and comfort with at-risk or low-income constituents
- Ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with clients, family members, and caregivers
