• Demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
• Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills.
• Demonstrates responsible behavior as a health care professional.
• Performs the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
• Applies principles of asepsis and aseptic technique.
• Identifies variances from expected outcomes and responds to changes in patient needs.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience.
• Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 Year Surg Tech experience or equivalent.
• Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) via NCCT required upon start.
