General Liability Attorney

A respected law firm is hiring a General Liability Litigation Associate to join its Fairfax, Virginia, office. This is a hands‑on litigation role within a busy, trial‑driven defense practice, offering direct exposure to complex general liability matters from day one. The associate will work closely with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, managing cases through all phases of litigation while gaining meaningful deposition, court, and client‑facing experience.

They are looking for a motivated general liability litigator who takes ownership of their work, thinks proactively, and wants to grow inside a collaborative, transparent firm.

• Handle assigned general liability matters with partner and senior attorney oversight
• Manage cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
• Prepare, review, and respond to written discovery
• Conduct legal research to support litigation strategy
• Take and defend fact and expert depositions
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials
• Communicate directly with clients to provide timely updates and strategic guidance
• Collaborate within a team structure that includes attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants

• 3+ years of general liability litigation experience
• Open to candidates from plaintiff or defense backgrounds
• Experience taking and defending depositions
• Trial experience preferred
• Active Virginia Bar admission
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills
• Self‑starter who is proactive and anticipates what needs to be done next
• Demonstrated interest in long‑term growth within a litigation practice
