Role Overview

CGS seeks a Senior FOIA Paralegal to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The position will involve performing legal review, FOIA request processing, and other litigation support tasks. Candidates should be excited to contribute to government innovation, collaborate, and anticipate others’ needs.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct searches and analyze result sets, separating non-responsive documents from responsive ones.
  • Screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
  • Redact and code responsive documents.
  • Perform legal research.
  • Draft legal documents.
Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study.
  • At least one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is highly helpful.
  • Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery/document review tools.
  • Experience processing FOIA requests.
  • Knowledge of FOIA rules, regulations, and exemptions.
  • Basic legal knowledge and familiarity with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures.
  • Ability to deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging.
  • Two years of experience processing FOIA requests for federal agencies.
  • Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
