Controller – Aerospace & Space Technology (Gov Con)
Location:
Fairfax, VA | Hybrid

Why This Role MattersAs Controller, you’ll lead the accounting function and play a critical role in financial strategy, compliance, and operational excellence. This is an opportunity to guide a high-growth Gov Con organization through complex government contracting requirements while supporting projects that matter on a national scale.
What You’ll Do- Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and cost accounting
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Ensure GAAP compliance and proper revenue recognition for government contracts (T&M, CPFF, FFP)
- Maintain and monitor indirect cost rates; oversee Incurred Cost Submissions and DCAA compliance
- Lead audit preparation, tax filings, and internal controls
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Drive ERP optimization and process improvements across finance operations
- Mentor and develop accounting team members
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, FAR/CAS, and Gov Con compliance
- Experience with ERP systems (Navision/Business Central preferred) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments
