PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) - Urology

Inova is seeking an experienced PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for a busy inpatient/outpatient Urology service. The role will support a high-volume Urology department with inpatient, outpatient and consult responsibilities.

• Daily morning and afternoon rounding on inpatients and consults
• Daily progress notes and consult note writing for attending review
• Assessment, verbal presentation and writing of ER and inpatient consults
• Bedside procedures: complex catheter placements, catheter removal, suprapubic catheter exchanges, urinary catheter irrigation for clot retention, priapism irrigation, scrotal abscess incision and drainage, and other procedures as needed
• Order placement for admissions and discharges, labs and radiologic studies
• Field phone calls from bedside nurses
• Multidisciplinary care coordination and patient education
• Outpatient visits and first-assist in the OR as service needs permit

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Prior urology experience (inpatient or outpatient) preferred or minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
• Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Virginia license
• DEA registration

• 2 or more years of Advanced Practitioner experience in a Urology setting (inpatient or outpatient)
