Responsibilities- Under limited supervision, performs a variety of skilled building maintenance, repair, and construction tasks, independently or as a crew member; and does related work as required in any trade or crew assignment.
- Performs minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains all door closers, panic devices, and switches on automatic and handicap doors.
- Inspecting and ordering needed parts to repair or replace door pivots and hinges.
- Installs and repairs window treatments such as screens, blinds, and shades.
- Performs preventative maintenance; informs supervisor of major maintenance needs.
- Drives a vehicle to and from locations and keeps the vehicle supplied with tools and materials, and keeps it maintained and in an orderly, clean condition.
- Performs miscellaneous duties such as cleaning and painting the equipment and mechanical areas.
- Picks up materials from suppliers when requested.
- Inspects areas and reports problems to the supervisor.
- Maintains paperwork and electronic communications, including work orders and entering work hours on a timesheet.
- Orders and includes materials on work orders in an expedient manner. Follows established university and departmental policies and procedures; follows established safety procedures and reports accidents and problems to supervisor promptly.
