Blu Omega is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to support our client'sbiomedical big data initiatives. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and advancing solutions that facilitate biological data analysis and storage within a federal research environment.
Program OverviewSupport the development of tools and infrastructure for managing large-scale biomedical sequencing data.

- Develop, implement, test, and maintain the VDB Library, the SRA Toolkit, and related projects.
- Contribute to the development of cloud-ready tools and pipelines to support scalable and reliable data access and processing.
- Learn new technologies, manage internal systems, and share knowledge with team members.
- Lead other developers in project tasks.
- 5+ years of experience with object-oriented programming using C++.
- Programming experience in Linux environments.
- Experience with cloud technologies: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda), GCP (GKE, Cloud functions).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
- Ability to work with JSON and similar structured document formats.
- Experience with network programming and multi-threading.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with open source projects and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Experience working with genetic and biological data.
- Active involvement in open source communities (Git Hub, etc.).
- Multi-platform development experience (POSIX, WinAPI).
- Containerization experience (Docker).
- Familiarity with parsing tools (flex/bison) and developing domain-specific languages.
