Job Description
- The Construction Manager III will oversee construction activities, monitor progress, coordinate resources, and ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- This role requires managing industrial construction projects, evaluating vendor plans, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the project progress schedule; gather and confirm all necessary information for schedule creation, monitoring, and modifications.
- Perform regular constructability analyses and coordinate the general direction of work.
- Evaluate and provide input on vendor construction plans.
- Manage receipt, storage, and accessibility of materials and equipment.
- Monitor Client and physical progress of construction activities.
- Monitor and control cost items related to construction contracts, including reimbursable costs; review contractor progress payment requests and approve final invoices.
- Review, evaluate, resolve, and report on contractor claims and disputes; maintain change logs.
- Coordinate and administer the construction quality assurance program.
- Monitor and report on engineering and procurement functions to ensure timely deliverables that meet construction commitments.
- Prepare construction reports, maintain daily construction logs, and update record drawing data.
- Conduct construction coordination meetings as required to maintain project schedule.
- Coordinate storage and Client-down areas for materials and equipment.
- Assist in obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
- Experience coordinating and managing complex construction projects in an industrial setting; direct steel industry experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial construction standards and safety planning.
- Experience with multi-discipline constructability and construction planning.
- Ability to read, evaluate, and interpret schedules, estimates, drawings, and scope documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Oracle software.
- Familiarity with various contract types (lump sum, cost reimbursable, guaranteed maximum, T&M).
- Knowledge of Construction Industry Institute (CII) and Project Management Institute (PMI) concepts.
- Understanding of engineering, procurement, construction processes, and their interdependencies.
- Ability to develop outage plans and coordinate construction activities with ongoing operations.
- Familiarity with QA and change control procedures.
- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a multi-faceted work environment.
- Proficiency in project control techniques including critical path scheduling, resource loading, and earned value cost control.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Relevant experience in construction management; formal degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
