Matrix Providers is hiring a Optometrist to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Travis Air Force Base, California.
- Employment Status: Full Time
- Compensation: This is an hourly position, Paid Bi-weekly.

The Optometrist must have and meet the following:
- Degree/Education :
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from a school or college of optometry accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) and approved by the Air Force Surgeon General in the year of the applicant’s graduation. - Experience:
As required to meet clinical com Warfighter Refractive Surgery Clinic requires this Optometrist to have an additional four (4) years of experience in a refractive surgery clinic (LASIK Center) for a total of six (6) cumulative year of experience Licensure:
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an optometrist. - Certification:
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.
Job Duties
- Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment for those suffering from diseases, injuries, or disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions.
- Promote prevention and wellness, vision conservation, education and training activities, vision screenings, and positive eye and vision health behaviors.
- Conduct vision research in a problem area of considerable scope and complexity which requires novel approaches and which results in answers to important questions or important changes in existing methods and techniques.
- Advise and make professional clinical recommendations as to courses of action on problems and considerations of national scope in all areas of optometry.
- Provide full spectrum of clinical services to treat the most complex optometric related patient conditions.
- Participate in squadron process improvement activities, evaluation of squadron performance, and optometric-related research and provide training to ophthalmic technicians, other optometrists, and other wing staff as appropriate.
- Process improvement activities will include, but not limited to peer reviews.
- Credentialing:
Meet peer review documentation requirements for credentialing standards and AFMS coding audits. - Examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures, as well as diagnosis of related systemic conditions utilizing refractive, pharmaceutical, and rehabilitative (low vision, contact lens, and binocular vision) procedures.
- Utilization and prescription of pharmaceutical agents for the examination of the eye and adnexa as well as treatment and management of vision disorders, diseases, and conditions of the eye and adnexa.
- Utilization and prescription of ophthalmic and other rehabilitative prosthetic devices (including spectacles, ballistic protective/gas mask inserts, contact lenses, low vision devices, etc.) and training in their use.
- Provide pre and post-operative care of corneal refractive surgery patients to include manifest refraction, pre-operative examination/screening, interpretation of pre-operative corneal topography/wave scans and post-operative management (new addition).
- Consultations with attending physicians and others, when requested, to augment the care of patients; referral to appropriate health care providers of patients with medical, surgical, psychiatric, and rehabilitative conditions; health education and sight conservation programs to inform patients of potential ocular complications of disease processes and to prevent loss of sight or reduced visual performance as a result of safety hazards or environmental influences;
