Overview
COMPENSATION: This position pays within a range of $21.50 - $26.45 per hour, as an hourly non-exempt employee, paid weekly. We also offer a wide range of benefits, including Vacation, Sick Pay, Holiday Pay, Health Insurance benefits and 401k.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs all duties associated with the operation of the variety of packaging equipment in the section, including the independent setup of all packaging equipment as assigned by the supervisor or production schedule.
- Make independent adjustments and corrections to the equipment to ensure efficient operation of that equipment.
- Directs the production workers assigned to that equipment to ensure efficient operation and completion of tasks.
- Inspects all production to ensure compliance with specifications for that package.
- Completes all required paperwork, including start-up checklists, weight log sheets, and warehouse transfers.
- Performs changeovers on the packaging equipment as directed by the supervisor or production planner.
- Uses and understands written production schedules and instruction manuals in English when required.
- Performs cursory preventative maintenance duties on the assigned equipment.
- May be assigned to calculate, compile, and report production volumes as directed by the packaging supervisor.
- Performs all duties within the packaging section including packing of cases or caddies, palletizing cases, gathering, mixing, and feeding of product to the packaging equipment, marking cases or cartons, inspecting product, and assembling cartons or cases.
- Operates a manual or powered pallet jack; may be required to operate power lift equipment including specialized narrow-aisle equipment such as forklifts. Requires 6-12 months minimum driving experience.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary work area. May be assigned other duties within the scope of employment. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function.
- Overtime as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is mandatory. An essential function of this job is a requirement to work all hours scheduled.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities exist in this position.
QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); three (3) to five (5) years prior related work experience or nine (9) months structured, on-the-job training. Educational equivalency acceptable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
