Unit: DiMenna-Nyselius Library

Basic Function:
Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes.

Unusual Work Conditions:

Physical requirements:

mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelves.

Requires some evening hours.

Education:

Graduate degree in Library & Information Science (MLS or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.

Demonstrated experience using varied techniques to engage learners.

Prior experience providing instruction in an academic setting highly desirable.

Reports To: Associate Teaching & Learning Coordinator

Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes, including:

Leading instruction sessions in the library instruction lab

Communicating with assigned faculty to confirm scheduling and tailor lessons

Participating in planning and evaluation meetings to review lessons and identify improvements

Developing and maintaining knowledge of Library and University resources

Collaborating with teaching librarians

Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by the supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate.
