General SummaryAre you ready to take on a leadership role managing large, complex renovation and construction projects that shape the future of Oakland County? As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll oversee everything from pre-project efforts, design to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, in compliance with governing codes, meeting the County’s policies and standards, and to the highest performance expectations.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead major renovation and new construction projects, including pre-project, design, engineering, scheduling, budgeting, implementation and close-out.
- Serve as the department’s representative with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and County departments.
- Construction administration, document, and report on construction progress while providing solutions to issues.
- Prepare cost estimates, funding requests, drawings, specifications, bid documents, recommendations, reporting, and presentations.
- Manage bidding, awarding of contracts, and project-related purchases.
- Use Countywide and department-specific software to manage projects effectively.
- You’ll play a key role in shaping public spaces and infrastructure that serve the community.

- You’ll collaborate with a wide range of professionals, from architects and engineers to County leaders.
- Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of County facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study.
- Have had at least six (6) years of full-time experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
OR
- Be registered as a Professional Architect or Engineer in an appropriate Architecture discipline by the Michigan State Board of Architects or Engineers.
- Have had at least six (6) years of full-time experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
OR
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study.
- Possess a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Have had at least eight (8) years of full-time experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
NOTE:
Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). The degree evaluation will be required for application processing. - Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.

- Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
- If qualifying for the position with a Registration as a Professional Engineer, must maintain registration as a Professional Engineer by the Michigan Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
