Position Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Larchmont, New York
Reports To: President
Job Summary:
We are seeking an assistant controller to join our team in Larchmont, New York. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records for our real estate brokerage, ensuring compliance with state and national regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and highly organized. Prior experience with real estate commissions, escrow accounts, and industry-specific software is a strong plus.
Financial Record Management
:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including receivables, payables, and escrow accounts.
Commission Processing
:
Accurately calculate and process agent and broker commissions.
Transaction Coordination
:
Record all transaction-related expenses and ensure proper documentation for audits.
Bank Reconciliation
:
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
Tax Preparation Support
:
Assist with preparation of financial reports for tax filings, working closely with our CPA.
Expense Tracking
:
Monitor and categorize business expenses for accurate reporting.
Customer Service
:
Respond to agent and vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account status.
Compliance
:
Ensure all financial activities comply with New York State real estate regulations and company policies.
Reporting
:
Generate regular financial reports for management, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: Preferably 2 years in a real estate or property management environment.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Appfolio.
Organizational
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Integrity: Demonstrated trustworthiness and adherence to confidentiality standards.
