TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Langer Lab, to join a team focused on developing innovative medical devices and drug delivery systems as an analytical chemist. Will join the analytical development team and support the development of a medical device to personalize the dosing of chemo therapies, and support analytical chemistry efforts on multiple projects. Responsibilities include high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and tandem-MS (TOF and SQ);
analytical development of HPLC and LCMS in-vitro and in-vivo assays; HPLC and LCMS sample preparation and assay validation; assisting with in-vivo experiments testing the medical device to personalize chemotherapy dosing; project planning, reagent procurement, record-keeping, and basic maintenance of analytical equipment; ensuring users comply with established standards, regulations, and laboratory procedures; maintaining accurate records of all experiments and analytical methods;
and coordinating with clinical sites for sample acquisition and processing. May train new users in equipment operation and coordinate the work of lower-level staff, student employees, and/or temporary staff.
REQUIRED:
B.S. in a relevant scientific field (i.e., biochemistry, chemistry, biology, biological/biomedical/chemical engineering, or related field); at least two years’ research experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); ability to multitask and organize multiple experiments and assignments simultaneously and work both independently and as part of a team; strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
PREFERRED: M.S. in a related field, chromatography and mass spectrometry experience, experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment.
