Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist I or II for the Main OR in Charlottesville, VA. This is a Swing Shift from 11a to 7p.

Operating Room performs an average of 7,000 cases each year with 8 OR suites. Service lines include Complex Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic, and Orthopedic surgery. It is the 2nd highest‑performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.

The Surgical Technologist ensures the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment, assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. Responsibilities also include applying dressings, securing surgical drapes, transferring patients to recovery areas, and adhering to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.

• TS – Trade School Graduate – Surgical Technologist (Required)
• Students completing a Surgical Technologist Program may be considered.

• Licensed Surgical Technologist – Virginia (Required)
• One of the following certifications required:
  Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery TS‑C – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) Required

• Operating room experience (preferred)
• Strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
• Strong communication skills with providers and surgical staff required.
