Full-Time | Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing | Precision Inspection
Bring your aerospace quality expertise to a precision manufacturing environment where dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and documentation are critical. This role focuses on inspecting complex fixtures, tooling, subassemblies, and completed assemblies to ensure they meet engineering requirements and demanding customer quality standards.
Why This Role Stands OutSpecialized Aerospace Work: Inspect precision tooling, fixtures, and assemblies supporting aerospace and defense programs.
Technical Variety: Work with complex engineering drawings, 3D models, tight tolerances, and a wide range of inspection equipment.
Advanced Measurement: Apply your GD&T expertise and CMM inspection skills to challenging dimensional verification tasks.
Ownership of Quality: Help identify discrepancies, prevent nonconforming products from advancing, and maintain reliable inspection records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with manufacturing, engineering, program management, and supply chain teams.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and improvements to inspection processes.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections on precision fixtures, tooling, subassemblies, and completed assemblies.
Verify manufactured components against engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.
Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Evaluate dimensional characteristics including position, profile, flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism, runout, and composite tolerances.
Determine appropriate measurement methods based on part geometry, datum structures, tolerance requirements, and measurement accuracy.
Perform visual and workmanship inspections for surface defects, burrs, scratches, dents, corrosion, finish conditions, identification markings, and assembly completeness.
Verify hardware installation, fasteners, bonding or grounding requirements, and assembly sequence where applicable.
Operate and program coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for dimensional verification.
Create or modify inspection programs, establish part alignments and datums, select probes, measure features, and evaluate results.
Use precision hand tools and measurement equipment to verify dimensions, threads, fit, surface condition, and assembly characteristics.
Maintain measurement accuracy by using properly calibrated equipment and reporting damaged or questionable instruments.
Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), inspection reports, travelers, nonconformance documentation, rejection tags, and certificates of conformance.
Maintain complete inspection records, CMM reports, photographs, data files, and product traceability.
Identify and document nonconforming materials or assemblies, segregating affected products in accordance with established procedures.
Support material review board (MRB) activities, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality investigations.
Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready inspection documentation.
Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve dimensional and workmanship issues.
Communicate inspection findings clearly and help prevent recurring quality problems.
Support continuous improvement while ensuring production requirements never compromise quality or traceability.
Candidates should be comfortable using a broad range of precision measurement tools, including:
Outside and inside micrometers
Digital and dial calipers
Bore gauges and telescoping gauges
Depth micrometers and depth gauges
Height gauges and height masters
