Prep Cook-Fairfield

The Prep Cook is responsible for supporting the restaurant's kitchen operations under the guidance of the executive chef. Key tasks include chopping vegetables, breaking down stations, cutting meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, and proper food storage.

Responsibilities:

• Follow instructions for food preparation and storage.
• Label and date all prepped items, especially those stored for later use.
• Ensure all food prepared is ready for use by line cooks.

Skills:

• Good listening skills to understand specific food prep instructions.
• Ability to understand and execute recipes in English.
• Effective communication with coworkers.
• Basic math and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

• Manual dexterity for cutting and chopping food.
• Ability to stand for entire shift.
• Ability to work in hot and cold environments.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 or 4-year culinary degree preferred but not required.
• 1-2 years of experience in food service or hospitality.
• Food handler's card may be required per local regulations.
