Product Innovation Manager – Weiss-Aug

Fairfield, NJ.
Join Weiss-Aug – a leader in precision manufacturing and innovation. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Product Innovation Manager to oversee coordination and on-time/in-budget completion of all project tasks across our Medical and Life Science operations.
Responsibilities- Represent the customer to ensure expectations are clearly understood and met.
- Provide leadership to technical teams responsible for the successful launch of multiple complex programs.
- Service and grow our program base within the Medical / Life Science Industry (Technical Sales).
- Oversee coordination and on-time/in-budget completion of all projects, including program management of machined product, fixtures/tooling, progressive stamped parts, and more.
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) including DOE’s, FMEAs, Process Flowcharts, Control Plans, Capability Studies, and Gage R&R’s.
- Participate in product design (R&D) meetings with Medical Customers.
- Oversee creation and distribution of project schedules; ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
- Facilitate Tooling Kickoff, Specification Review, Design Review, and Lessons Learned (Post Mortem) meetings.
- Oversee development of initial BOM and detailed Routing.
- Coordinate the change control process (ECO) for engineering documentation.
- Execute engineering studies on existing and new programs to facilitate and optimize parts.
- Create and define methods for simulation of assemblies to support end-of-line quality.
- Manage key suppliers as required, ensuring on-time and quality delivery.
- Interface with customers on technical and schedule-related issues.
- Mediates conflicts between departments and fosters consensus.
- Identify areas for improvement and opportunities for organizational knowledge gains.
- Participate in customer, internal, and registrar quality system audits.
- Investigate root causes of internal and external complaints and quality rejections (DPD, DPA’s, 8D’s, DMR).
- Lead or participate in troubleshooting of existing and new processes.
- Create and maintain process documentation; train personnel on procedures.
- Perform direct and indirect report tasks to ensure deadlines are met or exceeded.
- Motivate and develop team members.
- Translate top-level asks into team direction to accomplish company goals.
- Operate as a driven self-starter with little supervision.
- Multi-task and set priorities effectively.
- Jointly responsible for successful transfer of tooling to Manufacturing.
- Support Sales and New Product Development teams; may assist in identifying potential leads and opportunities.
- 4-year engineering, technical, or management degree (substitute experience acceptable); graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of program/technical project management or manufacturing experience in a medical device/life science environment.
- Experience with product design, program/project management, and tight-tolerance manufactured products.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documents; knowledge of ANSI/ISO standards and GD&T preferable.
- Proficiency with Solid Works for product/tooling design preferred.
- Knowledge of quality inspection tools and methods, including SPC.
- Knowledge of GMP/ISO Quality Systems required.
- Knowledge of TQM, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Knowledge of machined product, progressive metal stamping, or insert molding processes desirable.
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams and support technical sales.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to create Gantt charts.
- Knowledge of Plex, MRP, or ERP software preferred.

The base salary for this role will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
