GZA Geo Environmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an Environmental Remediation Engineer in our Fairfield, NJ office. The role involves designing and implementing remediation systems, managing projects, including staff, budgets, and schedules, interpreting data, mentoring junior engineers, business development, and maintaining client relationships. The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned environmental consulting professional with the motivation and desire to foster technical excellence and strong client relationships and lead a team of talented engineers and scientists.
As an Environmental Remediation Engineer, you will work with a staff of interrelated professionals dedicated to providing high-level expertise on complex projects above, below, and at ground-level. You will mentor project engineers to successfully execute all aspects of projects under your guidance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Managing and mentoring a team of existing project engineers and scientistsPerform a wide range of environmental engineering analysis and design tasks related to: planning, environmental site investigation (subsurface and hazardous materials), remediation design and remedial operationsSupervise the development of project plans, design calculations, plans and specifications, engineering cost estimates, and coordinate with other disciplines as required to deliver quality engineering servicesCoordination and presentation of design submissions with clients and regulatory agenciesWorking with your staff of professionals to provide environmental remedial engineering expertise on GZA projects including evaluation of remedial options, development and implementation of remedial designs, and cost estimatesStaff interviewing/hiring, training, mentoring and staff performance evaluationConducting internal and client communicationsMonitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgetsLeading business development activities with support and assistance from colleagues and GZA corporate marketing and communications teamPreparing proposals and reviewing/writing environmental reports and obtaining technical QA/QC reviewsManaging project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process)Conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculationsParticipating in meetings and agency consultationAdditional job-related duties as assignedQualifications:
New Jersey and New York Professional Engineer LicensesBachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering plus an MS15+ years of relevant environmental consulting experienceTechnical expertise in design of a wide variety of remedial systemsLNAPL and chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminant investigation and remediation experienceConstruction bid specification experience a plusKnowledge of applicable New Jersey and New York laws and regulations (experience in Pennsylvania is a plus)Strong desire and ability to train and lead a team of junior professionalsPossess the ability to maintain strong and consistent outreach to clientsDemonstrate professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work productsStrong oral and written communication skillsExperience with statistical review of dataExperience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledgeExperience in project budgeting and financial managementPublished technical papers a plusBusiness development experienceStrong interest in safetyPossess or have completed 40-hour and 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER trainingAbout GZA:
