Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Key Account Manager to drive commercial growth across the Southeast U.S. territories, focusing on expanding our footprint among Physician Office Laboratories (POLs), Reference Laboratories, and Urology Clinics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in PCR and NGS-based workflow sales, with experience in adjacent laboratory products such as culture-based tests, colony count systems, or sample preparation tools.
This role requires a strategic, hands‑on sales leader who can develop deep customer relationships, execute territory‑specific strategies, and contribute to Vela’s long‑term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and develop new accounts in molecular diagnostics, expanding Vela’s presence in target territories.
- Design and implement territory‑specific sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with key customers, demonstrating the clinical, operational, and financial value of Vela products.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to secure and grow business.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and coordinate system installations and Rx sales.
- Continuously analyse market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
- Leverage CRM tools to manage leads, track opportunities, and streamline sales activities.
- Expand the customer base, develop long‑term relationships, and drive recurring business.
- Conduct customer segmentation and develop tailored account plans for high‑potential clients.
- Collaborate closely with the Field Application Support (FAS) team to address customer needs and participate in joint calls.
- Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the U.S. commercial organization.
- Ensure all sales and marketing initiatives align with corporate strategy, brand positioning, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor key account performance, profitability, and credit status.
- Track competitor activities and recommend proactive counter strategies.
- Travel: > 60% customer‑facing activities across the territory.
- Grow the business in alignment with Vela’s long‑term commercial objectives and expansion plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of sales and business development experience in molecular diagnostics or related fields.
- Proven success selling PCR and NGS workflows and reagents to POLs, reference labs, and urology clinics.
- Experience with adjacent laboratory products (culture tests, colony counting, sample prep) preferred.
- Hands‑on experience in sales and marketing operations within a dynamic, multinational environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline. Advanced degrees a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.
