Jeff Wyler Fairfield Auto Mall is looking for a Used Car Technician to help us get our pre-owned inventory ready for its next owner.
These cars come to us with stories.
Some are one-owner vehicles that have been babied their entire lives.
Others...Let's just say they've seen some things.
Your job is to figure out which is which.️ WHAT YOU'LL DOYour mission is simple:
Take a used car and make it retail-ready.
That means you'll:
Perform multi-point inspections on used vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns.
Perform routine maintenance and necessary repairs.
Perform oil changes, fluid services, brake work, tire services, and other maintenance.
Inspect suspension, steering, exhaust, cooling, and drivetrain components.
Diagnose check-engine lights and other warning indicators.
Identify safety concerns and communicate necessary repairs.
Perform quality-control checks before vehicles are placed on the sales lot.
Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality.
Work with Service Advisors, Used Car Managers, Parts, and Sales.
Document work performed accurately.
Road-test vehicles when appropriate.
Keep your work area clean and safe.
Help determine whether a vehicle needs a repair, a little love, or a serious conversation with the Used Car Manager.
Occasionally discover something underneath a seat that makes you question humanity.️ THE USED CAR DETECTIVE Used-car technicians are part mechanic, part detective.
You might start with:“Customer says it makes a noise.”And end up discovering:
A worn suspension componentA brake issueA fluid leakA battery on its last breathA tire that has apparently been through three wars
Or absolutely nothing because the customer was hearing their phone charger rattle
You investigate. You diagnose. You fix it.
That's the job. QUALIFICATIONS Previous automotive technician experience required.
Used-car inspection or reconditioning experience.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to diagnose and repair common automotive mechanical and electrical concerns.
Basic computer and diagnostic-tool skills.
Ability to safely operate shop equipment.
Strong attention to detail.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work with a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.
Professional tools appropriate for the position.

ASE certifications.
Dealership experience.
Strong diagnostic skills.
Electrical diagnostic experience.
Brake and suspension expertise.
Experience with modern scan tools.
Experience inspecting high-mileage vehicles.
The ability to identify a bad wheel bearing from approximately 100 yards away.
