Job SummaryThe Endoscopy Technician II performs competent inspection and reprocessing of all re‑usable department supplies, instruments, and equipment in accordance with organization policy and procedures. The Endoscopy Technician II demonstrates knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for reprocessing in the department and ensures that all re‑usable supplies, instruments, and equipment are processed, tracked, and stored in accordance with organization policy and procedure.
The Endoscopy Technician II provides competent care to patients undergoing department procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed and appropriately credentialed physician or Registered nurse. The Endoscopy Technician II provides clinical support to the Physician and/or Registered Nurse during all phases of care, ensuring that safe, effective, and timely interventions are taking place during procedures.
- Successfully performs all essential job functions of an Endo technician I, such as supply, instrument, and equipment management.
- Assists providers and associates with any department needs.
- Assists with screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic department procedures including but not limited to: patient positioning, patient care/comfort, taking biopsies, collecting specimens, polyp removal, banding, application of clips, stent insertion, stent removal, feeding tube insertion, dilation, mucosal brushing, decompress ions, foreign body retrieval, fine needle aspirations, specialty equipment exchanges and cautery, and direct patient care.
- Ensures accurate documentation of specimens. Demonstrates proper specimen handling, labeling and transportation per department procedure. Anticipates the needs of the patient, providers and/or case. Communicates with patients’ family/significant other as needed. Provides support to alleviate any fear or anxiety regarding tests, procedures, equipment and medications.
- Prioritizes tasks/assignments based on patient need and skill level, assuming full accountability. Acts as a resource / mentor to others within the organization as the opportunity arises.
- Transports patients to and from areas of hospital. Discharges outpatients as needed.

Education- High School diploma or equivalent (required)
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- Six months of previous Endoscope reprocessing experience (required)
- One year of previous Endoscopy reprocessing experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of infection control principles.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation as required.
- Ability and willingness to float throughout markets as directed.
- Monitor patient conditions during treatment.
- Inform medical professionals regarding patient conditions and care.
- Inform supervisory of supply, instrument, and equipment concerns.
- Analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of basic sciences, such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, asepsis, sterile techniques and operating room techniques.
