BandS Machine Shop has employment opportunities for up and coming Conventional Machinists. We are recruiting Apprentice Machinists who are looking for full-time employment, have basic skills, want to grow and expand their trade, and are interested in hands‑on manufacturing.
Over time this opportunity can grow into programming and operating CNC Lathes and CNC Milling Machines. Candidates with strong mechanical skills are encouraged to call for an interview.

Responsibilities- Set up and operate a well-equipped, well-tooled conventional lathe to manufacture parts such as shafts, shaft sleeves, couplings, flanges and other cylindrically shaped parts.
- Work from drawings and use shop travelers for detailed directions.
- Manufacture parts from a wide variety of materials, primarily 400 and 300 Series Stainless Steel, steels, bronzes, and occasionally plastics.
- Ensure critical dimensions as tight as .0005" and non-critical dimensions as loose as .032" while maintaining required surface finishes.
- Calibrate and verify precision measuring tools in house at regular intervals to insure product accuracy.
- Report and keep proper documentation of parts and setup.
- Basic machining skills and desire to learn and grow in a conventional machining environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on orientation.
- Good communication skills.

The workday starts at 7:00 AM. At 8:45 we take a scheduled break. At 9:00 it’s back to work until lunch at 11:30. After a 30‑minute lunch, we start the afternoon run. The “Final Bell” dings at 3:30. Usually we work 5 days a week. Overtime is always available and sometimes necessary to keep up with shipments and customer demands. When overtime is required, cooperation is expected.

BandS Machine provides all necessary micrometers and precision measuring tools, which are calibrated and verified in house on a regular basis. Our machinists are required to supply personal tools such as a good roll‑around toolbox, dial indicators, hand wrenches, digital calipers, deburring knife, Allen wrenches (English and metric), non‑marring hammers, scribes, punches, edge/center finders, etc. We offer payroll deduction to help employees purchase those tools.
