Our client, a leading provider of environmental containment, water treatment, and site access solutions, is seeking a new Senior Accountant to provide accounting and financial guidance to this growing business. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant position is responsible for the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Responsibilitiesand Essential Functions
- Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecasts data to determine department or division progress toward company goals and objectives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university, CPA preferred
- 3 + years of progressively responsible experience in a senior accounting role
- Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management while exhibiting a high degree of emotional intelligence
- Ability to navigate at an advanced level in a Windows® environment including above average proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to develop specific goals and plans in order to prioritize, organize, and accomplish required work.
- Ability to efficiently communicate with business partners, supervisors/managers, peers, or subordinates in verbal or written form.
