Responsibilities- Provide nursing support to the physician and direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient setting.
- Provide direct patient care as outlined in the patient’s plan of care and as directed by the overseeing role to promote comfort and return to functional health.
- Consult with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist to seek guidance in the delivery of nursing care as necessary.
- Perform designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
- Observe, record, and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress in a timely manner.
- Assist physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures as assigned.
- Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
- Monitor the patient’s condition and report deviations from normal health status to the overseeing role.
- Participate in developing the patient’s plan of care by providing data, identifying priorities, and supporting measures to maintain comfort and function.
- Assist in patient and family education and rehabilitation by following the teaching plan and consulting with the overseeing role.
- Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating with appropriate health care team members.
- Administer medications (intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization, and/or MDI) as assigned, safely and accurately.
- Obtain instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing techniques or practices.
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state LPN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire date.
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of clinical experience.

- Heavy/Hard work:
Strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients, standing, walking; carrying patients, materials, and equipment weighing 40+ lbs. This is performed daily.

- Protracted or irregular hours.
- Exposure to biohazards, communicable diseases, and possible toxins (radiological and chemical).

- Ability to work under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and assignments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems used by physician offices and hospitals to capture data accurately.
- Ability to function as a team member with respect to organization, communication, and task prioritization. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
