Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown position requiring stepdown experience, a WV or compact RN license, and ACLS/BLS certification.
Responsibilities
• Work in a 20-bed acute care Stepdown/Med Surg unit
• Patient ratios are 1:3 for stepdown and 1:5-6 for med/surg floor
• Common patient diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• Unit uses EPIC for electronic charting
• Work schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts with three weekend shifts required per four-week schedule
• No call or floating required
• Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapies
• Scrub color is royal blue
• Unit is supported by a house supervisor and two nurse aides per shift
• All candidates will receive unit-specific orientation
• Holiday shifts are required on a rotating basis for either evening or day coverage
• Returning travelers to the health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying and may not exceed one year cumulatively within the system
• EKG testing is required for Stepdown RNs at specified affiliated hospitals
• Local travelers within 50 miles are not eligible
Requirements
• Active WV or compact RN license is required
• Minimum of 3 years recent RN experience, with stepdown experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications through the AHA are required
• Experience with titrating drips and caring for med/surg stepdown patients
• Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver’s license for consideration
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel assignment
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
