Job Description

Job Summary: Transporting students safely to and from school and school-related activities. Providing a consistent, safe “face” for the students to see every day and making a difference in a child’s life. Guaranteed 5 hours per day on a split shift (approximately/between): 6:30a to 9:30a and 1:30 to 4:30p. Many of our drivers work 6-8 hours per day. More hours available if desired.

May work within district during break between routes.

Director of Transportation.

Essential Job Functions:
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Safely driving a school bus as assigned, on routes to and from school and school-related activities; and in accordance with District policies and procedures, and State laws.
  • Assessing potential emergency situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the wellbeing of passengers.
  • Supervising, assisting and instructing students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading during regular and emergency situations; and at specific assigned stops.
  • Assisting special needs students with a variety of issues including wheel chairs, safety vests, oxygen tanks, anger management, physical concerns such as seizures and other related special needs concerns for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the wellbeing of passengers.
  • Conducting vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspection as prescribed by law.
  • Reporting vehicle mechanical defects in accordance with District policies and procedures, and State laws.
  • Providing students a safe and nurturing environment on the bus.
  • Cleaning assigned vehicles, both interior/exterior for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicle.
