About the RoleForth Valley College is seeking a Joinery Work-Based Assessor to join our Apprenticeship, Skills and Commercial (ASC) team on a part-time basis. This role is central to supporting and assessing apprentices undertaking Joinery qualifications within real workplace environments across Scotland. Reporting to the Assessment Manager for Construction, you will carry out assessment and internal, verification and quality activities in line with Forth Valley College and SQA standards, ensuring apprentices are supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Assess Joinery apprentices in the workplace against SQA performance criteria
- Provide professional guidance and coaching to candidates, supporting portfolio development
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant assessment records using digital systems
- Build strong relationships with employers and external stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the Construction assessment team
- Verifiable, current industry experience in Joinery / Carpentry & Joinery
- Sound knowledge of SQA standards, evidence requirements and assessment practice
- Strong communication, planning and IT skills
- Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- Willingness and ability to travel to employer premises
- A1, L&D9, TAQA or equivalent assessor qualification
- Experience of work-based learning and apprenticeship assessment
- Familiarity with vocational qualification frameworks
