The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Lecturer in Health and Social Care to support learners across SCQF Levels 4-7.
The successful candidate will deliver high quality learning, teaching and assessment across a range of Social Services and Healthcare programmes, producing engaging learning materials and contributing to an excellent learner experience. Working collaboratively with colleagues, learners, employers and external stakeholders, you will support the development of innovative teaching approaches. This includes the effective use of learning technologies, while ensuring curriculum content remains current, relevant and responsive to the needs of the social services and healthcare sectors.
You will also contribute to curriculum development activities and provide effective academic and pastoral support to learners. A strong learner-centred approach is essential, alongside a commitment to supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills and professional values required for employment and progression within social services, care and healthcare settings.
Applicants should be educated to at least degree level, be a current registrant with an appropriate professional body and have significant industry experience within social services, social care or a related health and social care setting. We are particularly seeking applicants with experience in social services, which may include: adult care, community care, residential care, support work, social work services, or services supporting children, young people, families or vulnerable adults.
Experience of supporting learners, staff or colleagues in workplace or practice-based settings is essential, alongside strong organisational and ICT skills.
Experience of teaching or supporting learning, whether within current employment, workplace training or adult learning, would be advantageous.
Ideally, candidates will hold Assessor and Verifier qualifications together with a teaching qualification such as the Professional Development Award in Teaching or the Teaching Qualification (Further Education) or be willing to work towards achieving these qualifications.
You will also demonstrate a sound understanding of health and safety requirements, quality enhancement processes, professional standards and current developments within the social services and healthcare sectors.
Experience of delivering industry training within social services, care or healthcare provision would be highly desirable.
