Shift Pattern:
Panama Shift (12-hour shifts – days and nights)
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support our clients engineering team at various high-volume parcel sorting facilities. Operating within a fast-paced automated environment, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of conveyor and material handling equipment that forms the backbone of the operation.
We are looking to speak with both mechanically and electrically biased engineers who have experience of working with complex automated systems.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on conveyor systems and associated equipment.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational disruption.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system faults.
- Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, belts, rollers, sensors, scanners, and automated handling equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Accurately record maintenance activities using the site's maintenance management system.
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure maximum system availability during peak periods.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate equipment status effectively.
We are looking for an engineer who can thrive in a busy automated environment and has a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements- Recognised engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Experience maintaining conveyor systems, automated material handling equipment, or intralogistics systems.
- Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.
- Ability to work independently and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working a Panama shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Experience with in parcel sorting, logistics, distribution, warehousing, or automated manufacturing environments.
- Any experience of ADTA’s, Posisorter’s or other sortation equipment would be highly beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and industrial automation.
- Understanding of condition-based maintenance and continuous improvement methodologies.
- This role will be a field based position, covering multiple sites
- Panama shift rotation, days and nights
- Contract position likely to run until the end of the year with the potential to extend
