Position: Senior Nurse Practitioner, Rural Urgent Care (Islands)

Job Overview

Position: We are looking for a highly-motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to work as part of our multi-disciplinary Integrated Front Door team.

Band: Band 7 £ 52,845 to £61,466 per annum or Band 6 £ 43,231 - £52,679 per annum. Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 per annum. 36 hours per week. Permanent posts – x3.

Key role: The ANP will be a member of the first response team for the provision of urgent and unscheduled care, including primary care home visits in the community, NHS 24, custody care, AAU and Hospital @ Home level care.

Service description: This developing service offers excellent opportunities for the development of skills and confidence, shaping the delivery of rural healthcare within the remote‑island location and providing an unrivalled sense of responsibility and reward. The ANP works closely with resident GPs, the Nursing Team, SAS and other primary and secondary care specialist clinicians. Peer support is also provided from resident GPs and specialist teams throughout the Western Isles.

Working pattern: 24‑hour response, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Shift working, including overnight and weekends.

Required attributes: The successful applicant must have the ability, drive and commitment to work as part of a team, sometimes at a distance, and to contribute to the local development of primary care and acute services. They will be expected to support medical, nursing, mental‑health and Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues.

Additional requirements: The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
