Are you an experienced Biomedical Scientist looking for an exciting opportunity within a specialist Core Biochemistry laboratory? Join our team in Falkirk as a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist and earn an excellent £32.38 per hour. This ongoing locum position runs until February 2027 and offers the opportunity to develop your expertise while working with advanced laboratory technology in a dynamic clinical environment.

You must be HCPC registered and have demonstrable experience in Core Biochemistry, including Out of Hours and lone working. Full-time availability is essential, as the role involves core day shifts alongside a comprehensive Out of Hours rota covering late shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays.

What you will do:

  • Perform a wide range of biochemical analyses within the Core Biochemistry laboratory.
  • Analyse and interpret results accurately, escalating abnormal or clinically significant findings in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate and maintain advanced laboratory systems, including Siemens Atellica and Aptio track technology.
  • Use Clinisys Win Path Enterprise and associated laboratory IT systems to manage samples, results, and laboratory workflows.
  • Participate in the core daytime rota and Out of Hours service, including late, weekend, overnight, and public holiday shifts.
  • Undertake lone-working duties safely and effectively when required.
  • Perform quality control procedures and contribute to maintaining high standards of analytical accuracy and reliability.
  • Work in accordance with laboratory policies, quality management systems, health and safety requirements, and relevant professional standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the laboratory to ensure efficient sample processing and timely delivery of results.
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain a high standard of service throughout all working periods.
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Specialist experience within Core Biochemistry.
  • Previous experience working Out of Hours, including lone working.
  • Availability to work full-time across core and Out of Hours rotas.
  • Ability to work late shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays as required.
