We are currently looking for reliable and highly motivated individual to skipper the Company’s Net Washing vessel the Linnhe Net Washer. The vessel will provide a valuable net cleaning/washing service to the Company’s seawater sites in the Mid Mainland region. The vessel will be predominantly based in Loch Linnhe however will travel to other sites as and when required. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities.
If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a two weeks on/ two weeks off rotational shift pattern. Accommodation is provided on site.
About the job
The role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our salmon is undertaken. We need our Skippers to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but it not limited to:
- Perform any combination of duties aboard the vessel including lookout, steering and engine-room watches.
- Net washing/ cleaning
- Maintaining the vessel to a high standard, ensuring full compliance with MCA workboat code and certification
- Working closely with Farm Managers to provide the most efficient service between sites
- Ensuring safe working practices at all times
- Ensuring high bio-security levels are maintained and records are kept up-to-date
- Other general farm duties as required
The ideal candidate will have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job. The successful candidate will have:
- Appropriate certification for operating vessels up to 24 meters, both day and night
- You will be required to hold, or able to obtain, and retain an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate
- RYA Commercial Endorsement or STCW certification
- IOSH Managing Safely Certification
- Net washing experience
- Work flexibly to meet the demands of the job
