Registered Mental Health Nurse – Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU)

5. Salary range: £34,544 to £43,039 pro rata/per annum, plus £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata/per annum.

Hours:

28.8 per week. Employment:
Permanent. The APU is a 5‑bedded acute admissions ward operating 24/7 with day and night rotational work.

As a staff nurse the main duties will include:

• Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and treatment.
• Liaising with carers, other professionals and third‑sector services.
• Acting as named nurse for individual patients and taking charge of shifts.
• Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
• Applying up‑to‑date clinical practice in accordance with local and national guidelines (e.g., SPSP (MH)).
• Participating in ongoing CPD activities and receiving regular clinical supervision and annual appraisals.

• Current registration as a registered nurse.
• Recent experience working in mental health services is essential.
• Strong team‑working ability and excellent communication skills.

• PVG Scheme registration (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme) will be required for successful applicants.
• Post is eligible for relocation expenses.
