Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7 (including weekends as required)

The Area Support Officer provides flexible and reliable security support across various client sites within a designated area, ensuring consistently high standards of security and customer service. This role is ideal for an adaptable individual with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to maintaining safety and security across multiple environments.

As a Retail Area Support Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting customers, staff, and stock, ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment. You will act as a visible deterrent to criminal activity, provide excellent customer service, and respond effectively to incidents within retail settings.

• Act as a highly visible security presence within stores, deterring theft and anti-social behaviour.
• Conduct regular patrols of store premises to ensure safety and security at all times.
• Monitor CCTV and other security systems to identify and respond to suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches of individuals when required, in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, escalating matters to management or law enforcement where necessary.
• Complete detailed, accurate incident and observation reports.
• Liaise effectively with store management and staff to address security concerns and potential threats.

• Provide a professional, approachable, and welcoming presence to customers, staff, and visitors.
• Assist customers with directions or general queries when required.
• Calmly and professionally de-escalate confrontational or challenging situations.

• Ensure full compliance with all site-specific procedures, company policies, and legal requirements.
• Provide support to the wider security team and assist with additional duties as directed by the Site Supervisor or Security Manager.

• Valid SIA Licence – Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify suspicious or unusual behaviour.
• Proven ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly for reporting and incident documentation.
• A proactive, reliable, and professional approach to security.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

• Mileage for sites worked outside your local area can be claimed fortnightly via the company expenses app.
• Successful candidates will be required to undergo full screening and vetting in accordance with BS7859 standards.
