We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive Senior Project Accountant to join our client’s team. This is a hybrid position in Fall River, MA.
Responsibilities- Handle daily accounting tasks and keep financial records accurate and up to date.
- Prepare journal entries for revenue, expenses, payroll, and accruals.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts regularly.
- Track project budgets, costs, and changes.
- Prepare Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reports and apply ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Support month‑end and year‑end closings and assist with audits.
- Review and process vendor invoices with correct job and cost coding.
- Manage weekly payments and keep track of outstanding bills.
- Reconcile accounts payable and make sure vendor records are accurate and compliant.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue payments.
- Work with clients to resolve billing or payment issues.
- Track retainage receivables and help forecast cash flow.
- Prepare and review financial reports for management.
- Analyze project performance and explain variances between budgets and actuals.
- Partner with management to review profitability and improve financial processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in construction accounting.
- Hands‑on experience with Net Suite.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and project/job costing.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliations).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
