Job DescriptionLead the engineering technical, schedule and cost activities of a design team on different types of programs including new product development, production and IR&D programs. Work closely with Program Manager, Engineering groups, Manufacturing department and other departments as necessary to expedite project completion and facilitate the overall operation of the project team.
Essential Functions- Facilitate the overall operation and performance of a project team with minimal oversight from management team.
- Provide coordination between resource managers/supervisors and Program Managers.
- Oversee and coordinate the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
- Provide technical leadership on issues related to subcontractors, suppliers and customers, supporting management on technical risks and opportunities to optimize program performance.
- Work with the Program Management office team to ensure that all technical contractual obligations or project baseline requirements are fulfilled, reviewing program documentation and other work products created by the program team.
- Ensure adherence to cost, schedule and quality requirements with Program Manager and Lead Engineers.
- Provide timely status updates including milestones, issues and plans of resolution to management team.
- Apply technical standards, principles and techniques frequently.
- Prepare and monitor engineering project team schedules, plans and budgets, competent in understanding and reporting Earned Value metrics.
- Estimate resource needs for developmental programs.
- Deliver technical presentations to customers.
- Conduct design reviews internally and with customers.
- Coordinate preparation of work breakdown structures, task descriptions, basis of estimates and other resources required to perform cost estimating.
- Support new business opportunities related to the product.
- Adhere to the Quality Systems Manual and applicable Standard Work Instructions.
- Implement significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions or products to enhance performance and develop new concepts or standards.
- Provide input into new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on overall function or business results.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience.
- At sea test experience and in-depth technical knowledge of AUV systems and integration efforts.
- Hands on technical troubleshooting experience including vehicle disassembly and assembly, soldering, PCB replacement, connector replacement or repair, log review and data analysis.
- Prior experience being a Technical Lead on a developmental or production program.
- Good working knowledge of Earned Value Management and competent in understanding and reporting metrics.
- Good working understanding of ocean engineering, underwater infrastructure and autonomous undersea vehicles and operations.
- Must meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information.
- Ability to obtain a US DOD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or Computer System Engineering.
- Multi-Disciplined Team Lead Experience.
- Experience in working, operating and/or designing autonomous underwater vehicles.
- Proficient in MS Project and CAD programs.
- Excellent communicator and well-organized leader.
- Creative and adaptable thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working DoD programs.
Salary range: $104,500 - $193,500.
