SAH Pharmacist

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, participates with patients, medical staff, and health care practitioners in the provision of effective, safe and appropriate drug therapy. The pharmacist may be responsible for the purchase of pharmacy inventory to include narcotics and other necessary drugs, equipment, and items to insure availability.

Responsibilities include reviewing physicians' orders for errors or problems, contacting physicians or nurses for clarification, and entering orders accurately into the computer. The pharmacist is also responsible for dispensing the correct medication, completing necessary documentation, and recording patient diagnosis and allergies.

Additional responsibilities include managing workload, investigating medication errors, and accurately recording withdrawals and returns on perpetual inventory sheets. The pharmacist must also ensure that controlled substance orders are ready to be delivered at the scheduled time and that IV admixtures and special solutions are compounded in a timely manner.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution and a current MA Pharmacy license. One to three years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Pay Range: $49.50-$81.67
