Physical Therapy Assistant
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Elmwood Healthcare - Home Health will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement and support individualized therapy programs for patients in their homes. You will assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals, provide hands-on therapy, and contribute to the development and modification of treatment plans based on patient progress.

Key Responsibilities:
- Therapy Implementation: Assist in delivering physical therapy interventions as outlined by the supervising Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities to improve patients’ physical function and mobility.
- Patient Evaluation Support: Help in assessing patients' progress towards their therapy goals, noting any changes in physical condition or functional abilities, and reporting these observations to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Treatment Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of therapy services provided, patient progress, and any relevant changes in the patient’s condition. Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and regulatory standards.

Education:
Educate patients and their families about therapy exercises, home safety modifications, and techniques to support ongoing improvement and independence. Provide guidance on how to continue therapy exercises safely at home. - Care Coordination: Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to patient care. Communicate any concerns or observations about patients’ conditions.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control practices to ensure a safe therapy environment. Use medical equipment and supplies properly and ensure that all practices comply with regulatory standards.
- Emotional Support: Offer encouragement and support to patients throughout their rehabilitation process, fostering a positive and motivating environment to help them achieve their therapy goals.
Education: Associate’s degree with Physical Therapist Assistant certification from an accredited program.
Licensure: Current and valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), preferably in a home healthcare setting.
Skills: Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Certifications: CPR Certification with Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) is required.
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to patients' homes within the designated service area.
