Interpreter-Sign Language

Overview

Position:
Interpreter - Sign Language (Per Diem).

Hours:

Day shift with evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Location:

St. Luke’s Hospital – New Bedford, MA. Travel:
May require driving on average 3 or more times per week.

• Provide coverage on-site/on-call for Interpreter Services as requested.
• Provide accurate consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation from English to American Sign Language and vice versa.
• Develop a rhythm of interpretation to enhance the flow of communication between parties.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of encounters.

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in a related field is required.
• Training in medical terminology preferred.
• Interpersonal skills appropriate for handling sensitive patient and/or employee issues.
• Fluency in English and American Sign Language.
• One (1) year related experience required.
• Certificate of completion of a Medical Interpreter Training.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or be exempt as allowed by policy.

Pay Range: USD $18.54 - USD $31.20 /Hr.
