Job Summary
Whirlpool is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a Quality Control Technician at our Fall River, MA site. The 1st Shift Quality Tech will help solve quality problems on dryers by taking measurements, performing testing, and effecting repairs. The role also assists in certifying materials or machines to reduce end‑of‑line (EOL) testing and field failures. Tasks will vary daily based on quality and production needs, with flexibility in work hours as required.
Reports to the Metrology/Fabrication Engineer. Pay rate: $27.05 per hour.
- Work with test booth operators to understand and aid in problem solving.
- Understand EOL inspections and help improve in‑line inspection to reduce failures at EOL and in the field.
- Inspect and take measurements on dryers in the line.
- Perform inspections of materials required to run the next day (in‑line, fabrication, incoming material from suppliers).
- Perform repairs or assembly operations on the line to stage it for success the next day.
- Run dryers through the Main Line Customer Assurance Lab (CAL) test as required when it is installed.
- Perform process audits as required off shift.
- Plan and perform work, making decisions involving judgment and initiative.
- Lead problem solving using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools.
- Learn new skills as needed.
- Follow all Whirlpool safety policies when working in the plant.
- Apply basic arithmetic (add, subtract, divide, multiply decimals and fractions), use measuring devices, read simple drawings, and interpret production schedules and inspection reports.
- Lift parts and perform assembly operations safely.
- Support cost and quality projects by providing data and evaluation.
- Evaluate parts and products for non‑conformances.
- Report issues with accuracy of BOMs.
- Track and understand change notifications (CNs).
- Understand and support the APQP and QMS processes as needed.
- Communicate directly with suppliers and operations concerning APQP issues.
- Perform fit/function evaluations.
- Use all designated safety equipment, observe safety rules, and follow recognized safe practice.
- Perform duties of a similar or lesser skill to facilitate the flow of work in the department.
- High School Diploma / GED.
- At least 6 months of experience performing manufacturing quality inspections and running tests.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule as needed.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to operate complicated equipment safely, including electrical and gas hookups.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
