SUBSTITUTE HEALTH AIDE - $17.66/hr
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitute - Temporary, as needed
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Render first aid to injured and ill students according to Student Health Services policies and standards of the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Administer CPR in cases of life-threatening emergencies, such as cardiac or respiratory arrest, and work quickly and effectively in stressful situations.
- Assist the School Nurse with basic vision and hearing screenings for students.
- Monitor and audit student immunization records for compliance with school requirements.
- Under the direction of a School Nurse, assist in implementing healthcare plans for students receiving nursing services and support IEP implementation for students with special needs, ensuring compliance.
- Maintain accident and illness documentation for students assisted in the Health Office.
- Keep accurate records in the Student Information System.
- Record medication administration and maintain medication logs.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and their families.
- Perform maintenance checks on the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Keep the health office area clean and well-stocked.
- Assist with healthcare needs of students and staff as required.
- Perform clerical duties such as receiving mail, duplicating materials, and communicating with staff and visitors.
- Serve as receptionist for students, parents, staff, and visitors.
- Manage student enrollment, attendance, and transfers; input data into the computer system and prepare attendance reports.
- Operate office equipment including phones, copiers, computers, and fax machines.
- Create and maintain student records and files.
- Perform other health and office duties as delegated to support the school health program.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of experience in healthcare preferred. After training as a “qualified person,” assist with medication administration following safe procedures, with approval from the Chief Nurse. Possession of a high school diploma or GED is required; additional secretarial or bookkeeping coursework is desirable.
REQUIRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:Current Heartsaver + AED CPR card from the American Heart Association. Current First Aid certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (Basic EMT certification may also be accepted). Valid Nevada driver’s license is required at hire.
