Summary
The Safety Engineer supports the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe work environment across job sites and facilities. This role involves assisting in program development, incident investigation, and collaboration with project teams to foster a culture of safety.
Duties and Responsibilities Program Support & Compliance- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring site-specific safety programs (e.g., HASPs) in alignment with company policies and OSHA/ANSI standards.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and hazard analyses to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to training requirements (e.g., OSHA 500) and maintain safety equipment/PPE.
- Assist in investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate with project managers and clients for reporting and compliance.
- Participate in site orientations and safety training for employees and subcontractors.
- Assist in reviewing safety submittals, AHAs, and work plans for hazard mitigation.
- Support the organization of safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Assist in monitoring leading/lagging indicators, analyzing injury/incident trends, and managing case/return-to-work programs.
- Maintain safety documentation and software systems (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Procore).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.
- Preferred OSHA 30-Hour Training or equivalent safety certifications.
- Preferred BCSP Construction Health and Safety Technician.
- 0-2 years of experience in construction/industrial safety or a related field; previous internships or entry-level roles are welcome.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Spanish-speaking skills are highly preferred to communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software is preferred, as it enhances the ability to manage safety data and compliance efficiently.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to relocate for the project duration if applicable.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
