Congressional School seeks a part-time Coach for the  academic year. The Coach is responsible for creating an environment that fosters and promotes physical fitness and discovers and develops talents of students in physical achievement. The Coach is a member of a collaborative team and delivers a program that is student-centered and focused on developing a lifelong love of the sport/area of focus.

The Coach is knowledgeable and has relevant experience in the sport.

• Provides coaching and guidance to Middle School aged students in the sport(s) of focus
• Conducts and leads practices and games
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment
• Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and areas
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student
• Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports
• Communicates with parents and the Director of Athletics on student progress
• Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, in-service days and other professional and community activities, when appropriate
• Performs any other related duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field; (Assistant Coaches minimum requirements: Associates Degree or High School Diploma with a track towards an higher education degree.)
• Experience in the sport(s) they are intending on coaching
• Minimum 2 years' relevant coaching experience, strongly preferred
• Experience with coaching/teaching middle school age students
• Knowledge and ability to instruct a wide range of sport activities a plus
• Strong initiative and organizational skills
• Ability to work afternoons and early evening hours
• An ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment
