Spanish Teacher – Congressional School
Congressional School seeks a Spanish Teacher for the academic year. The Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing an effective learning environment through planning, organizing, developing, and assessing a comprehensive instructional Spanish program for children in Preschool through Primary School. The Spanish Teacher is knowledgeable about the cognitive and social-emotional development of children in these age groups and possesses a firm understanding of Spanish language and culture.
In addition to the below duties and responsibilities, the Spanish Teacher will be positive, collaborative, innovative, and passionate.
- Develop, implement, assess and modify, as necessary, a dynamic Spanish language program for Primary and Lower School students that aligns with Congressional's mission, vision, and values
- Use a variety of methods, materials, and techniques to teach Spanish language and culture
- Organize classroom systems and procedures and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
- Assess students’ knowledge for the purposes of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students’ progress, expectations and goals
- Actively seek opportunities for professional development
- Listen and respond to student and parent concerns in a responsible, constructive and resourceful manner
- Actively support the school philosophy, community, and policies
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Division Director
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, unless native speaker;
Master’s degree in education preferred - Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching Spanish, preferably in an independent school
- Fluency and expertise in conversational and written Spanish
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in child development and educational practices
- Strong initiative and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment
- A sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset

Washington, DC. Salary range: $61,460.00-$
