About the Position
This position is in the Defense Health Agency (DHA) under the policy guidance and direction of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD (HA)). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service. Leave accrual negotiation may also be available for those candidates new to Federal service.

- Function as the Associate Radiation Safety Officer, the organizational subject matter expert in radiation safety, for staff and patients, emergency response, and oversight of ionizing and non‑ionizing machines in healthcare.
- Provide general surveillance of radiation safety activities, including personnel, facility, and environmental monitoring.
- Recommend technical procedures to improve, rectify, or enhance Radiation Protection Programs.
- Modify or develop new approaches, methods, techniques, equipment or procedures to identify and/or resolve personnel radiation hazard issues.
- Facilitate training to users of medical radiation consistent with the statutory requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates in order to give advice, counsel, or instruction.
- Supervise, manage, and/or oversee a multidisciplinary team of Health Physicists and other scientists.
