Description
The Pastor of Evangelism and Missions has a burning passion for the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20). He personally and regularly seeks to share the Gospel with those who do not yet know Jesus and is able to articulate the Gospel in a clear, concise, and contextualized way. He is able to equip, train, and mobilize the local church to engage in personal evangelism (and has a track record to indicate this ability) and is able to create a clear, simple pathway to help non‑believers hear the Gospel, respond to it, and become a follower of Jesus and part of the community of faith.
By helping to create a culture of evangelism at TFCA, this pastor, in coordination with the Rector, Executive Director, and Senior Associate Rector, will create the foundations for local and international missions as well as for church planting throughout the DMV area and beyond. This pastor will also provide managerial and pastoral oversight over the programs and staff related to evangelism, local and international missions, and church planting.
And Responsibilities Pastoral Support
First and foremost, help shepherd the congregation with the pastoral team available to serve at all worship events by assisting in liturgy, teaching and leading, and being available to parishioners after services. Assist with other pastoral duties such as aiding in our process of marriage preparation for engaged couples, officiating weddings, leading funerals, and conducting baptisms.
EvangelismSecondly, motivate, equip, train, and mobilize the church to engage in personal evangelism. Oversee, organize, and lead the church’s regular offering of evangelism programs and staff (Examples include Alpha and Christianity Explored).
Local And International MissionsAs a culture of evangelism is created at TFCA, help the church also engage in local and international missions. Provide pastoral oversight and manage the local and international missions programs (Examples include annual churchwide events such as the January “Send” Fair, leading short‑term mission trips, and fostering partnerships with local mission groups and international missionaries).
Church PlantingThe result of a culture of evangelism being created at TFCA is the launching of new churches throughout the DMV region and beyond. Through the Timothy Program, this Pastor will help identify, recruit, train, and develop future pastors and church planters.
