Baroody Camps is seeking a reliable, organized, and outdoors-minded Outside Program Manager to lead the daily execution of our seasonal outdoor adventure programming. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being outside, takes pride in running smooth operations, and feels confident leading staff while supporting engaging, safe outdoor experiences for kids.
The Outside Program Manager owns the day-to-day flow of outdoor program days, including preparation, equipment readiness, staff leadership, and on-site problem solving. While this role may jump in to teach or lead activities as needed, the primary focus is oversight, coordination, and ensuring each day runs safely and successfully.
This is a seasonal hourly role with the opportunity to return in future seasons or transition into other roles with Baroody Camps.
Key Responsibilities Daily Program Leadership & Supervision- Serve as the on-site lead for all outdoor program days, Monday-Friday
- Supervise and support counselors and instructors throughout the day
- Set the tone for safety, professionalism, teamwork, and fun
- Step in to lead or assist activities as needed
- Troubleshoot issues calmly and effectively in real time
- Prepare and organize all outdoor programming materials and equipment
- Set up and break down daily activities
- Ensure fishing gear, bikes, safety equipment, and supplies are ready for use
- Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repairs or replacements
- Maintain safe, organized storage of outdoor materials
- Support the development and refinement of outdoor adventure programming
- Help shape activities related to:
- Fishing
- Kayaking
- Biking
- Survival and outdoor skills
- Nature-based exploration
- Adapt activities based on group needs, weather, and site conditions
- Provide clear direction and support to counselors and seasonal staff
- Communicate daily plans, expectations, and adjustments
- Partner with administrative staff on scheduling and logistics
- Communicate any issues professionally with staff, parents, and internal leadership
- Some Sunday hours required as you prepare for the week with coordination/scheduling
- Ensure programs follow safety guidelines and company expectations
- Support and uphold training standards including:
- CPR / AED / First Aid (Pediatric & Adult)
- Mandated Reporter requirements
- MAT (required)
- Model strong judgment, accountability, and leadership in outdoor settings
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or enrichment setting
- Comfort working outdoors in a hands-on, active role
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to supervise staff and manage daily operations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Reliable transportation
- Must be at least 25 years old and eligible to work in the U.S.
- Experience with fishing, biking, kayaking, survival skills, or outdoor recreation
- Experience driving a van and/or trailer
- Bike repair knowledge or mechanical aptitude
- Outdoor First Aid or Wilderness First Aid certification
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience supporting or coordinating programs
- Seasonal, structured, and hands-on
- Leadership-focused without being overly administrative
