The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is now accepting applications for its Summer Student Fellowship 2026

📖 About WHOI Summer Student Fellowship

The WHOI Summer Student Fellowship program is a summer research fellowship for undergraduates entering their final year of study. The program offers students the chance to gain practical experience in the fields of:

  • Ocean sciences
  • Oceanographic engineering
  • Marine policy
🎁 Benefits of WHOI Summer Student Fellowship

Participants in the WHOI Summer Student Fellowship will receive the following benefits:

  • Weekly stipend: $721
  • Travel allowance: $720
  • Housing provided by the institution
  • Participation in seminars, lecture series, and workshops (e.g., Ethics in Science)
  • Networking opportunities within the Woods Hole scientific community

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be undergraduates (not yet graduated)
  • International students are welcome (visa support required)
  • Preference is given to science/engineering majors with an interest in ocean sciences
  • Applicants from underrepresented groups in ocean sciences are encouraged to apply
  • Special rules apply for UK 3-year and 5-year programs
